KATA teacups and saucers are made using a special technique that produces an eggshell porcelain which is light and thin like paper. The thinness allows light to pass through, and the bottom has a cut-out in the shape of a tea flower.
The cups have a hemispherical shape that allows the color of the tea to be seen clearly and pairs well with the teapot, adding to the experience of drinking tea.
"Tenge" means "heavenly flower" in Japanese. The matte white porcelain is adorned with a pattern of overlapping circles that resembles lace and gives a sense of volume to the design.
‘’About NISHIKAWA JAPAN products
NISHIKAWA JAPAN products are inspected three times during the picking and packing process before being shipped to our customers. Since pottery is made from natural raw materials, there are many parts that are finished by hand due to differences in materials and manufacturing processes, and phenomena such as iron powder, pinholes, uneven glaze, distortion, and slight rattling may occur.
As a general rule, we cannot accept “returns or exchanges” due to the above-mentioned individual differences. Please understand this in advance.
The color of the product may differ from the actual product due to the settings of your monitor and lighting. Please understand that we cannot accept returns or exchanges for these reasons as well. We hope that you will enjoy the warmth and texture of the porcelain as well as the individual characteristics of each piece, which differ slightly from one another because of the handmade nature of the porcelain. We appreciate your understanding.
Iron Powder
Iron powder is a substance that is originally contained in the clay during the firing process, and it may oxidize and appear as black spots on the surface.
We hope you will understand that this is basically a good quality and is an expression of the ware.
About unglazed porcelain
The surface of the piece is matte, and the parts that do not have a glass luster are unglazed. Please handle with care as it is more easily scratched and soiled than other products.
Cups and saucers are dishwasher and microwave safe. However, because the vessels are thin, light, and delicate, it is possible for them to chip when placed in a dishwasher.’’
